Camp 6 - this one was flooded too.
After a rather nasty incident all the labour quit, in fact every local apart from one observer and the cook quit!
This picture is taken from one of the trailers where I was lurking at the time not quite sure how the situation would pan out. They were waiting for transport. It was a tense time.
This is what happened to our beer supply during a campmove. We were distraught!
Sand dunes.
My room.... and camp 9.
A sandstorm.... and the survey Landrover
(note the twin mirrors and furry dice).
This was an above ground dynamite test. I went along for the photo opportunity but it didn't work out very well. 10 two metre poles with 2kg of dynamite attached to each made quite a blast and instead of getting the photograph of the century I was thrown into the back of the pickup that I was sheltering in. I had the camera propped up on the cab with the pickup pointing down the hill. You can make out the shooters crouching behind the other pickup.
